How to make Chocolate Chip Hot Cross Buns?
1. To prepare the buns, mix lukewarm milk, sugar, and dry yeast in a small bowl, and let it sit for 15 minutes. The mixture should become frothy and expand in size.
2. Attach the dough hook to your mixer and place the flour and salt in its bowl. If you don’t have a mixer, you can mix by hand. Create a well in the center of the flour and add the melted butter, lightly beaten egg, and the frothy yeast mixture. Add half of the chocolate chips to the mixture.
