For the Dough:
1. Heat the milk over low heat.
2. In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, cinnamon, and salt. Create a well in the center and add room temperature eggs and warmed milk. Knead until the ingredients come together into a cohesive dough.
3. In a separate bowl, melt the butter and pour it into the kneadable dough. Knead until it forms a cohesive mass.
4. After kneading the honey bun dough, place it in a bowl greased with butter, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.
For the Frosting:
1. Melt the butter over low heat and gradually mix in sugar, heavy cream, maple syrup, salt, and vanilla. Pour half of the glaze into the prepared baking pan, ensuring an even distribution.
For the Filling:
1. Melt the butter over low heat and remove the bowl from the stove.
2. Add sugar, cinnamon, grated macadamia nuts, salt, and maple syrup to the melted butter. Mix all the ingredients well until it forms a homogeneous mixture.
3. Roll out the rectangular-shaped dough on a lightly floured surface.
4. Evenly spread the filling over the rolled-out dough surface and sprinkle half of the pecans on top.
5. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Once rolled, cut into slices about 5 cm wide and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each.
6. Leave the baking sheet with the slices for 30 minutes to allow the dough to rise once again.
7. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Once the oven is heated, bake these sweet rolls with frosting for 25–30 minutes.
8. After baking the sweet rolls, let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then carefully invert them onto a rack. Gently tap the pan to release the rolls from the caramel.
9. Flip the sweet rolls and warm the reserved glaze. Brush or drizzle the glaze over the tops of the rolls and sprinkle with the remaining pecans. These delicious sticky pecan rolls can be served warm or at room temperature. Enjoy the flavor!
